Oak Tree with Fungal Brackets

Oak Tree with Fungal Brackets possibly Sulphur Polypore Latest photos taken approximately 2 weeks after the first.  They have grown some since and started to look more like the form they will take.

Definitely a wood rotter with the amount of hollow wood in a couple of the buttress roots.

Oak Tree with Fungal Brackets

At this stage  this Oak Tree with Fungal Brackets possibly Sulphur Polypore is difficult to identify.  The yellow of the brackets immediately suggests Laetiporus sulphurus, however, the round shape of the brackets is not consistent with other pictures I have taken of this Polypore.

Root Flare behind bracket is hollow

The root flare behind this bracket is hollow.  More or less impossible to spot without the bright color of the bracket standing out against the dark bark of this Oak tree.

Quercus - Oak Tree Brockwell Park

Quercus robur - Oak Tree Brockwell Park

This has to be one of the oldest trees in Lambeth, a fantastic tree with huge stems on an even bigger trunk.  Definitely worth a look

A few pictures of a Chestnut tree Brockwell Park from a distance this tree seems fine but as you get closer its easy to see the tree has a few problems.  Fungal brackets - ganoderma and nematodes or something, check the video out, if I ever get it uploaded.

If anyone has an opinion on whether the worms are nematodes or not let me know.

Judas Tree, Brockwell Park

Love this tree and I've caught it just before it comes into leaf fully.  Will add more pictures through the summer.
